Bishop N. T. Wright: Reason Takes Precedence in the Homosexuality Debate

Obviously, Wright knows that following sinful desires is absolutely wrong but instead of sticking with Scripture as the final authority and church tradition as a secondary authority against homosexual behavior, he wishes to appeal to reason as the ultimate authority. Hence, he says that homosexuality is open for debate but polygamy or heterosexual promiscuity is not. Clearly, Wright's agenda is to muddy the waters with gray areas and ambiguity and relativism just as any theological liberal would. For Wright God's law is open for revision by modern standards of political correctness and modern cultural relativism. Wright reveals himself as a false prophet here and all should view him with extreme skepticism.

First of all, he says "I believe passionately in the importance of reason." He doesn't even claim it as an authority as he does with Scripture and Tradition.

He isn't a liberal, I saw him give a lecture in Baltimore last year and he was clear that homosexuality was wrong.

He spends the final minutes of this video talking about the fact that Paul knew about homosexuality at Corinth. He wasn't just condemning adult/child homosexual relations. So what's your beef? He opposes homosexuality, he refers to Scripture and Tradition as authoriites in the order you would like them...I don't understand how you dedeuce from that he is a false prophet.

Although, I would suspect that you are so vehemently opposed to anything having to do with the new perspectives that if you have any chance of casting aspersions on Wright, why not do it and hope the people who read you aren't smart enough to realize how much of a dissimulator you are!

This is an interview with N.T. Wright...as a more evangelical Anglican than I suspect he is, I disagree with some of the things he has said in this interview. But just look at question five. I don't know how he could more clearly denounce homosexuality than he does there.

Alright, REASONABLE Christian, I look forward to your response.

He clearly thinks homosexuality is open for "discussion." It is NOT. Secondly, if you saw the ABC video, a re-broadcast of the BBC's coverage of GAFCON and Peter Akinola, N.T. Wright blamed the Global South, Archbishop Peter Akinola AND Archbishop Peter Jensen for "tearing the communion apart." There was not one word against the liberals in the BBC comment. It's an hour long video but if you look in the last 15 or 20 minutes you'll see Wright clearly siding with the revisionists and homo lovers.

Sorry, but you're so into "love and tolerance" you are unwilling to see double talk when it is right in front of your nose.

I'm not a dissimulator. That would be you and your AC buddies. I'm black and white. No shades of grey here, Billy.

N.T. Wright is a liar. The BBC video clearly shows his true colors. Watch and you'll see the entire story is blaming the conservatives for the rift, not the revisionists.

Billy, everyone knows the Anglican Trilateral is Scripture, Tradition and Reason. The problem is Wright is making them all three equal, which really means that reason is at the apex.

In the Compass ABC video link go to about minute 37 and watch the last 12 minutes. Compare what Akinola is saying and what Wright is saying. Akinola says the conservatives are not to blame. Wright says the conservatives have no right to over-ride false prophets who are pushing homosexuality. You decide if Wright is right or Wright is wrong. I believe Akinola is right here.
