While it is the responsibility of the church to show mercy to those who are members of the church first, we do pray for the poor and do what we can to witness to them and give to charity. He was preaching through his blog that Christians in the US are greedy and that our problem is not abortion but that we reject Socialism as a way to care for the poor. He reasons that abortion and homosexuality is not as big as not caring for the poor.
