Just an aside here. If those who claim that Calvin and the other Reformers were actually Amyraldians are correct, then all of the Reformed Confessions are wrong. Reformed churches adhere to a confessional understanding of church doctrine. In other words, one would have to convince a church synod that the entire church is wrong before such doctrine could be changed. Therefore, since the Canons of Dordt and the Formula Consensus Helvetica are binding doctrinally, even if they could prove their views correct, this would not be binding doctrine unless and until they could prove it so in a church council or synod.
We adhere to confessions and creeds precisely because we believe they rightly and properly express the teaching of Holy Scripture. Let those who refuse to submit to the doctrines of reformed church should be disciplined or excommunicated. While the Articles of Religion do not specifically address universal atonement, they do address double predestination and in fact affirm double predestination. Double predestination does imply at least a particular atonement.
