The following is from the Christian Classics Ethereal Library. The Definition of Chalcedon of A.D. 451 is given in English, Greek, and Latin. This is the orthodox creed which defined how Jesus Christ could be both God and man incarnate. While it is not a perfect confession or creed, it does help to reveal heresy when someone obviously rejects either the full humanity of Jesus or His complete deity. Please note that any idea that the human nature is not "personal" is in effect to endorse Apollinarianism to one degree or another. The Definition rules out Apollinarianism when it says that Jesus had a "reasonable soul". In Greek this is "ἐκ ψυχῆς λογικῆς."
