Westminster Larger Catechism: Question 9

Question 9

How many persons are there in the Godhead?

There be three persons in the Godhead, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; and these three are one true, eternal God, the same in substance, equal in power and glory; although distinguished by their personal properties. (1 John 5:7, Matt. 3:16–17, Matt. 28:19, 2 Cor. 13:14, John 10:30)

The Westminster Larger Catechism: With Scripture Proofs. (Oak Harbor, WA: Logos Research Systems, Inc., 1996).

The doctrine of the tri-unity of God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is an essential doctrine to the Christian faith.  Those who deny this doctrine cannot be saved.
