Collect of the Day

The Second Sunday in Lent.

The Collect

ALMIGHTY God, who seest that we have no power of ourselves to help ourselves; Keep us both outwardly in our bodies, and inwardly in our souls; that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Collect from the First Day of Lent is to be read every day in Lent after the Collect appointed for the Day.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Votes In Openly Gay Ministers

Apostasy has become the official policy of yet another mainline Protestant denomination. The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America has voted by a 55% majority to allow openly gay and lesbian ministers to serve as pastors of their churches. See the story here.

The glory has departed from many denominations here in the US. How long before so-called "Evangelical" denominations begin to follow the mainline churches? When secular morality rather than the propositional truth revealed in God's Word becomes the standard, then God's law and the Gospel fall by the wayside.
