"We give thanks to God that in recent years many Evangelicals and Catholics, ourselves among them, have been able to express a common faith in Christ and so to acknowledge one another as brothers and sisters in Christ. We confess together one God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; we confess Jesus Christ the Incarnate Son of God; we affirm the binding authority of Holy Scripture, God's inspired Word; and we acknowledge the Apostles' and Nicene creeds as faithful witnesses to that Word." (See, The Gift of Salvation).
Who signed this statement? You might be surprised. Gerald Bray, James I. Packer, and Os Guinness are on the list of compromisers. And who was a recent guest on the White Horse Inn and was never challenged on this issue? Os Guinness. Is Michael Horton and company really concerned about reformation or perhaps they are more concerned with promoting their own ministry and becoming just another popular Evangelical ministry which sells the Scriptures and the Reformation down the pike?
The Thirteenth Sunday after Trinity.
The Collect.
ALMIGHTY and merciful God, of whose only gift it cometh that thy faithful people do unto thee true and laudable service; Grant, we beseech thee, that we may so faithfully serve thee in this life, that we fail not finally to attain thy heavenly promises; through the merits of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
