The Influential Nature of Eastern Orthodoxy Endangers Christians

Anyone who would quote Basil of Caesaria in favor of Sola Scriptura is either a doofus or a liar. My question is which one is these authors?

Richard Bennett and Stuart Quint are the authors. Furthermore, the church fathers appeal to Scripture over and over again in their arguments against heresies. Sola Scriptura does not reject the authority of the church or the creeds or even tradition per se but the idea that any authority is equal to Scripture or higher than Scripture. Therefore, when Basil appeals to Scripture as the final authority in the dispute it is an indication of Sola Scriptura as the guiding principle even in Basil's time.

Eastern Orthodoxy is basically a social club and a cultural icon. It teaches works righteousness or semi-pelagianism. It also teaches idolatry in violation of the second commandment since prayers are offered to mere creatures, angels and saints.

Mr. Ray:
It is sad to say but true that your faith is found in your head and not your heart. You are filled with very old arguments steeped in Rationalism and Empiricism. I pray that some day you will come to know the Savior personally.

Mr. Seraphim,

It really is too bad that you do not understand that a human being is a total package. One cannot divorce the head from the heart anymore than one can divorce the foot from the head.

God does not expect us to assume an anti-intellectual mysticism to be saved. The "faith" once delivered to the saints is written in propositional form in God's inspired revelation to man in the Holy Writings/Scriptures. Even a child can read and understand the Gospel. 2 Timothy 3:15

May God grant you the grace to repent of self-righteousness (Romans 10:1-4) and accept the righteousness of Christ.

and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith-- (Philippians 3:9 ESV)
