Bogeymen in the PCA!

The trouble with the article in this link is that the Federal Visionist bogeymen are real and genuine. Jeffrey Meyers, Peter Leithart, and Greg Lawrence are all genuinely heretical Federal Visionists--all of whom were found not guilty of heresy by their presbyteries. If Rae Whitlock wants to see the PCA respected he ought to do what he can to root out heretical teachers in his denomination. To read Whitlock's complaint click here: Bogeymen in the PCA!

Hi Charlie. It's funny -- the single thing for which I've taken the most heat in that article is my inclusion of the phrase "Federal Vision bogeymen."

Trust me, I'm not saying that FV is not a valid concern (nor whas I saying that about any of the other concerns I mentioned, like feminism, liberalism, traditionalism, etc). I was just pointing out how easy it is for us (especially those of us who might be more discerning) to become cynical to the point that the smallest inkling -- real or imagined -- can cause us to write off a person or a church prematurely.

Thanks for your comment, Rae. However, having visited the local PCA and several others in the Orlando, Florida area, I'm of the opinion that the PCA is a broad evangelical denomination and not "Reformed" except in title.

There are glimmers of hope like Wes White's blog but from what I've observed the PCA is more interested in downplaying the Reformed standards than promoting classical Calvinism. In my opinion Calvinism IS the Gospel. Arminianism is as heretical as Roman Catholicism.

I'm less interested in evangelical ecumenicalism than in preaching the doctrines of grace and educating people about the Reformed creeds.

Peace,

Charlie
