Justin Welby Named New Archbishop of Canterbury

I know nothing about the new archbishop of Canterbury.  As soon as I do some research I will post an opinion.

However, on a preliminary examination he appears to be another liberal since he's going to vote to approve the consecration of women bishops.  I presume that women priests are already allowed in the Church of England.

Usually this is a strong indicator that the approval of openly homosexual gays and lesbians as both priests and bishops is next on the agenda.  As they say, one step at a time towards progress.  That's double talk for saying the Bible is outdated and ethics, morality, and biblical standards need to be revised to accommodate with changing times and culture.  Welcome to a new battle against apostasy, folks.

Welby's views on WO are probably less important than his views on justification (he is an Arminian) and sanctification (he is a Charismatic). In short, his reign as CANTAUR cannot possibly go in the right direction.

Thanks for the feedback, Hudson. I fear that Welby is a closet liberal even if he claims to be a Charismatic. The news article says he spoke out against "homophobia" and other such nonsense.

Anyway, you're right about the Arminian aspect. High church Arminians are no better than Tractarians, imo.

Well, he isn't great. But he isn't as bad as he could be (opposes same sex marriage for example).

We Anglicans over in England have learnt to expect little from the episcopacy, but at least he is somewhat better than RW. He will probably be going in the wrong direction, but maybe least quickly than Williams? Small mercies, eh...

Thanks for posting, Thomas. I pray that Justin Welby will stand stronger than George Carey did. We can only trust God's sovereign grace.
