YouTube - ‪Robert Schuller And Billy Graham Speaking Wide Acceptance‬‏

Looks like Billy Graham wasted a lifetime of preaching the Gospel since people are not really lost if they have not head the Gospel. I guess he does not know that general revelation does not have any power to save anyone. Rather general revelation leaves fallen man without excuse. (Romans 1:18-32). Scripture plainly says that believing in Jesus Christ is the only way to be saved. (John 14:6; Acts 4:11-12; 1 John 5:13; Matthew 4:4). The English Reformers had better sense as well:

Thirty-nine Articles of Religion: Article XVIII

Of obtaining eternal salvation only by the name of Christ

They also are to be had accursed that presume to say that every man shall be saved by the law or sect which he professeth, so that he be diligent to frame his life according to that law and the light of nature. For Holy Scripture doth set out to us only the name of Jesus Christ, whereby men must be saved.

Unfortunately, this is also the view of the Hardshell Baptists and the Primitive Baptists. I guess they are not really "Reformed" after all? Hardshell Baptists have more in common with Arminians and liberals like Billy Graham than with the teaching of the Holy Scriptures and the Reformed standards of doctrine.

How Primitive Baptists get from their Articles of Faith to the wider acceptance view is beyond me:

7. We believe that God's elect shall be called, regenerated and sanctified by the Holy Ghost. Proof: Jude 1:1; Romans 8:28; 2 Timothy 1:9.

From: Mount Enon Primitive Baptist Association of Florida.

I know that Primitive Baptists in this association and others I've corresponded with online believe that God calls some of His elect through other religions, including false religions like Islam. This is a view virtually identical with Billy Graham's view in the video clip. It is the logical conclusion of Arminianism, which says that God would be unjust if He did not give every man "a chance" to be saved. On this point the Primitive Baptists are as wishy washy as any liberal. The Assemblies of God folks I used to know said that God judges those who have not heard "by the light that they have". This is a misuse of Luke 12:48 and other passages that are addressing believers, not heathen people in foreign lands. Scripture clearly commands the evangelism of the elect all over the world: Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 4:11-12; Romans 10:13-18; Revelation 5:9. Unless they are called they are not sheep: John 10:1-5, 16. A sheep knows the voice of Jesus because they have heard the Gospel preached by those sent by God. There is no other way. Those who enter by another gate are robbers and thieves: John 10:1.

May the peace of God be with all who are called by God,

Charlie
