American Anglican Council on the Archbishop of Canterbury announcement : Anglican Church League, Sydney, Australia

I have to ask if an oil company executive with less than one year experience as the bishop of Durham has any theological education or training?  Running a corporation is a sociological function, not the qualifications for pastoral and theological leadership in the church.  Although the new archbishop professes to be an Evangelical Christian that may or may not be a predictor of his actual performance as a leader in the Church of England and the Anglican Communion at large.  I recall that there were high hopes for the 103rd archbishop of Canterbury, George Carey.  Carey was better than Rowan Williams but only the future will tell how effective Justin Welby will be as the new archbishop.
