I used the 1662 BCP for MP, the Litany, and the Commination on Ash Wednesday. (no ashes, of course) It was a biblical and reformed beginning to Lent. Did anyone else have a similar use? Michael Northup

I also read the collect for Ash Wednesday. I didn't detect anything in the collect that would contradict the sovereignty of God. In fact, the collect emphasizes both repentance and the fact that nothing we do is possible apart from God's monergistic grace provided beforehand.

Peace,

Charlie
