Collect of the Day

The Second Sunday in Lent.

The Collect

ALMIGHTY God, who seest that we have no power of ourselves to help ourselves; Keep us both outwardly in our bodies, and inwardly in our souls; that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Collect from the First Day of Lent is to be read every day in Lent after the Collect appointed for the Day.

Thanks for your comment, Cory. I used to be Pentecostal so I understand the modern emphasis on religious experience. However, the only sure way to know God is through knowledge of His written Word, the Holy Scriptures. (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21; 2 Peter 3:15-16). Salvation is ultimately rooted in justification by faith alone and apart from good works. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 4:4-8; Galatians 2:16-17; Romans 3:20, 28).

Gal 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.
