Westminster Larger Catechism: Question 65

Question 65

What special benefits do the members of the invisible church enjoy by Christ?

The members of the invisible church by Christ enjoy union and communion with him in grace and glory. (John 17:21, Eph. 2:5–6, John 17:24)

The Westminster Larger Catechism: With Scripture Proofs. (Oak Harbor, WA: Logos Research Systems, Inc., 1996).

This is interesting because it means that "union with Christ" is only true of the elect.  Many of the neo-legalists, antinomians, Federal Visionists, Arminians, Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, etc., et. al. are not members of the invisible church.  (Matthew 7:21-13).
