Daily Bible Verse

Collect of the Day

The Fourth Sunday after Easter.

The Collect.

O ALMIGHTY God, who alone canst order the unruly wills and affections of sinful men; Grant unto thy people, that they may love the thing which thou commandest, and desire that which thou dost promise; that so, among the sundry and manifold changes of the world, our hearts may surely there be fixed, where true joys are to be found; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

George Conger: Castro to convert?

Looks like Fidel Castro proves the axiom: "Once a Roman Catholic always a Roman Catholic." After all, the Roman Catholic Church is broad enough that they have something for everyone. Apparently the justification for Castro is liberation theology. Yes, the Roman Catholic Church can syncretize with sociological and Marxist political theories. Unfortunately, the Bible speaks against confusing doctrine with politics. (Daniel 2:44; Luke 17:21; John 6:15; 18:36). According to George Conger, Fidel's reconversion to Roman Catholicism could have political ramifications. What those ramifications might be are not stated.
