Collect of the Day

The Second Sunday in Lent.

The Collect

ALMIGHTY God, who seest that we have no power of ourselves to help ourselves; Keep us both outwardly in our bodies, and inwardly in our souls; that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Collect from the First Day of Lent is to be read every day in Lent after the Collect appointed for the Day.

‘Doonesbury’ creator Garry Trudeau discusses divisive strips about abortion - The Washington Post

[It looks like Garry Trudeau has outdone himself. He has taken it upon himself to attack the Bible belt and the Christian right once again. Communist propaganda is popular these days.  I generally try to stay away from political issues on the blog.  I do that mostly on Facebook.  But this one is a moral issue that is strictly forbidden in the sixth commandment:  Thou shalt not murder.  (Exodus 20:13).  And did you notice that honoring one's parents is higher on the list in the Decalogue?  Yes, honoring one's parent is commandment number five.  (Exodus 20:12).    Looks like procreation and holy matrimony are important in the divine order of things.  Charlie]
