Reasonable Christian: An Open Letter to Bishop Royal Grote

Bishop Royal "Roy" Grote on the left.

This is a letter I wrote to one of the bishops in the Reformed Episcopal Church over the intended merger with the Anglican Province of America.  That merger never happened since the opportunity to merge with the Anglican Church in North America presented itself.  The point of the letter stands, however, since the ACNA is as Anglo-Papist as the APA is.  What is particularly disturbing about all this is that even Evangelical Anglicans refuse to call the Tractarians on their heresies.  Bishop J.C. Ryle would be rolling over in his grave.  Even the Sydney Anglicans and the Anglican Church League think the Gospel and justification by faith ALONE is somehow a matter of adiaphora since the Tractarians and Anglo-Catholics openly deny sola fide, sola gratia and the final authority of Scripture or sola Scriptura.  I have been challenging Dr. Mark Thompson and my former pastor, David Knox on these issues for some time.

I guess they don't get it that I'm quite willing to speak out publicly on these issues and raise a ruckus.  I've been called one who sows discord among the brethren by at least one Presbyterian.   But it would require that the discord is among brethren.  Anglo-Catholics and Arminians are not "brethren".  They are heretics who preach another gospel.

I am baffled as to why this blog would allow such journo-terrorism from the likes of Westboro Baptist exclusivists who think they are the only ones going to heaven. Let's keep the discussion relevant!--Bishop J. David McGuire, DD.

And I am baffled as to why liberal universalists and semi-pelagian papists would complain that God saves only the elect? It is clearly taught in the Bible. Furthermore, I clearly posted a disclaimer that simply because I link to certain blogs does not constitute endorsement of everything said on those blogs. Simple logic would require one to accept what I said at face value.

At least the Westboro Baptist Church understands that homosexuals deserve hell like everyone else does. This is clear from Romans 3:10-23; Romans 6:23; Romans 1:18-32; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Leviticus 18:22, et. al.

Furthermore anyone who calls himself a "father" of the church has revealed his papist tendencies from the get go. Sola Scriptura and the four solas are all upheld in the Anglican Formularies, namely the 39 Articles of Religion, the 1662 Book of Common Prayer, and the Homilies.

XVIII. Of obtaining eternal salvation only by the name of Christ.

THEY also are to be had accursed that presume to say that every man shall be saved by the law or sect which he professeth, so that he be diligent to frame his life according to that law and the light of nature. For Holy Scripture doth set out to us only the name of Jesus Christ, whereby men must be saved. 39 Articles of Religion
