Why Evangelicals Should Vote Only for Ted Cruz This Year

I am 56 years old.  Never in my lifetime have I ever had an opportunity to vote for a genuinely Christian and Evangelical man like Ted Cruz.  The Republican establishment blames the Evangelicals for John McCain's loss to the Democrats and for Mitt Romney's loss to the Democrats.  But they are looking in the wrong direction.  They should take a long look in the mirror.  I reluctantly voted for both McCain and Romney, even though both are not conservatives.  They are moderates on just about everything, including biblical values like gay rights, gay marriage, and abortion.   Sure they give lip service to the conservative platform but most Republicans these days are relativists and progressives on social issues and morality.

I for one am tired of the GOP establishment's treating genuine Evangelicals as though we will just fall in line when our candidate doesn't win due to the manipulation of the elections by the establishment machine.  They are again doing the same thing this year.  They are pushing Rubio and Kasich as hard as they can even though neither has a chance to win.

Unfortunately, Fox News and the majority of the so-called "conservative" pundits are doing the same thing.  They define Evangelical so loosely that it means absolutely nothing.  Trump is no Christian either.  Fox News likes Trump because they are socially progressive and despise biblical Christianity.  The only so-called Evangelicals who are supporting Trump are the snake oil prosperity preachers like Pat Robertson.

No, this year I will be writing in Ted Cruz if the RINOs get a brokered convention.   If Trump wins, I will be writing in Ted Cruz.  Trump has run a dirty campaign from the beginning and his approval rating is 67% negative.  Furthermore, Trump is a just another liberal who will appoint liberal Supreme Court justices.  He pretends to be on the side of Evangelicals but Trump does not even read the Bible, much less care about abortion or religious liberty.  Supporting Trump is the same thing as voting for Hillary Clinton because he is in agreement with everything the Democrats stand for except free trade and immigration.  There's a good reason Democrats are voting for Trump in the open primary states.  It is because Trump is a Democrat at heart.

Trump is not presidential material and he certainly has no conservative values.  It is simply astounding that the same conservative pundits who hate Obama are promoting a candidate who is as liberal as Obama on healthcare and the social issues that conservative Evangelicals are concerned about.

The fact that Trump says he is a Christian is ludicrous since everything Trump says and does denies his profession of faith is legitimate.  If Trump is a Christian, so is Satan.  (Matthew 7:21-23).  I believe that Cruz supporters and legitimate Evangelical Christians should send the Republican establishment and the media propaganda machine a message.  Our vote counts.  Instead of staying home this year if Ted Cruz loses, I would ask you to vote in November and write in Ted Cruz.  When a significant number of Cruz supporters do so and Trump loses the general election to Clinton, the GOP establishment and the media pundits will realize that our vote does matter and the next time they will have to take the Evangelical base voters' opinions into consideration if they want to win the White House.
