Collect of the Day

The Second Sunday in Lent.

The Collect

ALMIGHTY God, who seest that we have no power of ourselves to help ourselves; Keep us both outwardly in our bodies, and inwardly in our souls; that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Collect from the First Day of Lent is to be read every day in Lent after the Collect appointed for the Day.

The Archbishop leaves the chair : Anglican Church League, Sydney, Australia

Archbishop Peter Jensen leaves his office as one of few truly Evangelical and Reformed leaders in the Anglican Communion anywhere.  While the Sydney Diocese is not as Calvinistic in some respects as I would like, the liberal wing of the Anglican Communion despises the Sydney Anglicans as "Puritans".  Let us pray for the Sydney Anglicans that God will raise up a new Protestant and Anglo-Reformed archbishop who will continue in the mission of Gospel purity and doctrine soundness.  (1 Timothy 2:1-8).
